Dear Peabody Community,
It is the beginning of another year of learning here at Peabody Elementary! We begin the school year with 420 students in grades kindergarten through fifth. Additionally we have 24 four year old preschoolers enrolled in our Peabody Pals program. Total staff number 60+ dedicated adults to the children within our community. So on any given day you will see over 500 folks of all ages who make up the day to day comings and goings of a school focused on learning.
Missing from the above description are our many parents, grandparents and community members who give of their time and talents to make Peabody the school community that it is…a place where kids come first! Last year alone the Peabody community gave thousands of hours of their time to assist with raising $60,000.00, helping students read, and many other activities that occur in an elementary school. The heart and soul of our community truly is you - our parents and your dedication to your child’s education. Thank you for all you do for our children.
An addition to our school community again this year is Beamer, a service dog working with one of our fourth grade students. Beamer is a “working dog” and while he is darn cute as a chocolate lab, he cannot be petted or talked to while working. We have specific plans in place to introduce Beamer to our school community and children and adults alike will receive information and training about the “work” that Beamer does. Any family, who hasn’t already let me know, should contact me immediately if their child has dog related allergies so that we can be responsive to the needs of all of our students.
Our theme this school year is imagine, believe, achieve. If we imaginethe possibilities, believe in what we do and what all kids can do, then we can achieve at exceptional levels! You will see this theme throughout our building in all we do over the next couple of years! I’ll see you this week at the Peabody Picnic! Join us to meet our many new families and say hello to others after a summer away.
I can imagine the possibilities for this school year,
Kristin Ryan
